Annual Fire Safety Statement

Under clause 177 and clause 180 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 the building owner must provide a copy of fire safety statements to FRNSW as soon as possible after the statement is issued. The fire safety statement is a record of maintenance and inspection of the fire safety systems within a building that is required to be given to Council.

The building owner(s) or their agent is ultimately responsible for the fire safety statement process. It is the building owner(s) or agent’s responsibility to select a competent fire safety practitioner who is accredited with FPAS to undertake an assessment of each fire safety measure.
